What is Talk Like a Pirate Day?

Talk Like a Pirate Day is nationally recognised in Australia as the major fundraiser for Childhood Cancer Support. This year, we are asking you to Patch on, Pirate up for Talk Like a Pirate Day. 

It's simple, all you need to do is sign up (and you'll recieve your very own pirate patch), get fundraising and then Don your patch on the 19th September. 

Are donations tax deductible?

The official Talk Like a Pirate Day is 19th of September. September is also National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.

Can I register by myself?

Definitely! You can register as a team or an individual. Our team is here to support you every step of the way.

Fundraising

How does my fundraising help?

At Childhood Cancer Support, we provide families with free short-term and long-term accommodation, fully equipped with everything they need as well as food, transport and counseling services. We take away the added stress and burden so that families can focus on their child.

We bring a community of families together who are going through the same journey. This emotional support, and our social events, helps families get through this difficult time.

Talk Like A Pirate Day is our national major fundraiser and all funds raised will go towards building a new accommodation village close to the hospital to help support more families.

Are donations tax deductible?

All donations over $2.00 are tax-deductible. You will receive a tax receipt by email. 

I have cash and donations, how can I bank these and add them to my fundraising page?

We ask that you bank any cash collected as soon as you can. There are lots of easy ways to pay-in.

The quickest way is to pay using a card. Your deposit will be automatically added to your fundraisng page. 

Pay-in cash given to you, from your card

Log-in to your fundraising dashboard and choose the donate option or click the donate button at the top of the page and search for fundraiser or team you wish to donate to. Once on your selected fundraisng page click the donate button. 

At the bank

Collect all the cash and cheques and take them to any branch of the Commonwealth Bank.

Email pat@ccs.org.au to let us know to keep an eye out for your deposit. Once we receive the deposit we can add it to your fundraisng page.

Do you have posters, email, signatures and other resources to help with my fundraising?

You can access all of our fantastic posters, pirate activites, certificates, social media tiles etc on the Resources page here

Do you have any resources that we can use in schools e.g. lesson plans?

Curriculum aligned lesson plans are available from Foundation to Year 9, along with loads of activities for early education.

The lesson plans are exclusive to schools and centres participating and fundraising in Childhood Cancer Support's Talk Like a Pirate Day. Resources and lesson plans can be accessed from the resources page.
