50km for 50 years of CCS
In June 2026 to celebrate 50 years of Childhood Cancer Support, I will be teaming up with friends and family to take on a 50km ultra marathon in support of children affected by cancer.
Some will join me in the full 50km, while others will join along the way for different segments. No matter the distance, we each have a collective goal of raising crucial funds to support the work of Childhood Cancer Support.
Childhood Cancer Support provides free accommodation, meals, transport and emotional support for regional families who need to relocate for treatment, helping ease the pressure so they can focus on what matters most.
My family has experienced firsthand the extraordinary support Childhood Cancer Support provides families impacted by childhood cancer. In 2014, my youngest sister, Lucy, was diagnosed with leukaemia at just seven years old. After Lucy needed to be relocated from Townsville to Brisbane for treatment, Childhood Cancer Support provided my family with a home away from home for 9 months. The care and support we received during that time was invaluable and Childhood Cancer Support acted as a source of strength during a difficult time.
Now 19 and cancer-free, Lucy will be joining me for a section of the 50km alongside our other sister, Chloe. We remain deeply grateful for the support CCS gave our family, and this event is a small way for us to give back and say thank you.
Every step is part of something bigger, bringing people together through compassion, strength and community, all while raising vital funds for families facing childhood cancer.
