Postie Bike Safari

Raising funds for Childhood Cancer Support.

Raised so far

$100

Our goal

$165,000

Each year we get together and ride our Postie bikes around regional Queensland, usually for a week and cover about 2,000 kms. Through donations, raffles and auctions our fundraising has helped many charities and, again this year, Childhood Cancer Support will be the beneficiary of the event.

This year’s ride will depart Mackay on Saturday 30th August and return back to Mackay on Saturday 6th September. We will be visiting the Atherton Tablelands and the event will close with a celebration dinner for riders and families.

If you would like to join this fun-filled ride, or would like more information please contact Greg at gregbec@bigpond.com or phone 0407 635 383 if you are up for the challenge.

Meet Poppy-Lee from Cairns

Meet Poppy-Lee, a brave little girl battling the rare condition called Diamond-Blackfan Anaemia. Diagnosed at just 12 months old, Poppy-Lee’s journey has been nothing short of extraordinary. Poppy-Lee and her mum have had to travel from their home in Cairns for treatment at the Queensland’s Children’s Hospital in Brisbane for extended hospital stays. The financial burden of long-term treatment and the strain of securing stable employment meant that Poppy-Lee’s family turned to Childhood Cancer Support for a place to stay.

We are dedicated to providing accommodation and support services to families like Poppy-Lee’s, ensuring they can stay close to their child during long-term cancer treatments.

How your support will help.

We provide a range of services to help families stay together, and close to the care they need.

We support our families during this time by providing a stable living environment close to the hospital. A home away from home, where families can have a meal after a long day of treatment, complimentary patient transport and free counselling by a qualified social worker throughout their stay.

To meet the demand in supporting more regional families impacted by childhood cancer we are redeveloping and renovating five old houses into a 15-unit accommodation facility for families to call home whilst their child undergoes life- saving cancer treatment at the Queensland Children’s Hospital. This $10 million capital works project will offer a further 5,475 nights of accommodation to more than 60 families each year. All funds raised, will go towards making this vision a reality.
